Foresters Defeated in Low-Scoring Game at Grinnell

Senior forward Brie Majkowski finished with a season-high 11 points and eight rebounds but the Lake Forest College women's basketball team was defeated 54-37 at Grinnell College on Saturday.

Sophomore guard Bridget Bilek was next on the team with eight points and freshman forward Molly Schoenlein added six to go with a team-high nine rebounds.

Neither team shot well from the field, the Foresters at 25.8 percent and Grinnell at 27.5 percent. The Pioneers had a 51-47 edge in rebounds and committed 18 turnovers to Lake Forest's 22.

The Foresters trailed by 11 at halftime before being outscored 10-9 in the third period and 19-14 in the fourth.

The loss left Lake Forest with a 2-4 overall record and a 1-2 mark in Midwest Conference play. Grinnell improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the league.

The Foresters will continue conference play next Wednesday at Illinois College. The game will begin at 5:30 p.m.
