Lake Forest College track runner Christian Aldana was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance in the team's first meet of the season.
The Foresters began 2019 at Friday's UW-Oshkosh Titan Twilight Invitational, where Aldana was the runner-up in the 3000m run in 8:48.28. His time was a personal best by nearly 21 seconds and ranks fourth in the Midwest Conference and 55th in the nation so far this season. The senior also became the first Forester to complete the race in less than nine minutes.
Aldana is now the school record-holder in three events, having also posted the team's best time in the indoor mile and outdoor 1500m run last season.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays. Aldana also earned the award once in cross country as a sophomore.
