Foresters Come Up Just Short at Carroll

The Lake Forest College men's tennis team was defeated 5-4 at Carroll University on Tuesday. Forester junior Anthony Mykhaylovskyy won 6-0, 6-1 at #5 singles to tie the match at four but the visitors were unable to pull off the come-from-behind victory.

Carroll had jumped out to a 4-0 lead by sweeping the three doubles matches and adding a win at #1 singles.

The Foresters finally earned their first point of the match on a 6-3, 6-3 triumph by freshman Dragan Trivanovic at #3 singles. Classmate Ellis Lora-Arceo followed with a 6-4, 6-4 victory at #2 and sophomore John Snider won 7-5, 6-3 at #4. Mykhaylovskyy knotted the match at four but the Pioneers prevailed in three sets at #6 to take the match.

Lake Forest fell to 12-11 overall this season and suffered its first loss in its fourth Midwest Conference North Division contest. The Foresters will be the division's #2 seed in the MWC Championship Tournament on April 25 behind Carroll, who is now 9-10 overall and a perfect 4-0 in the MWC North.

The Foresters will host Carthage College Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 before closing out the regular season against visiting Cornell College Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
