Lake Forest College soccer player Marcos Hernandez was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for his performance at both ends of the field in a pair of victories over the weekend.
Hernandez, a senior who transferred to the College prior to the 2018 season, scored his first goal as a Forester in a 3-0 triumph over Illinois College at home on Saturday. He headed in a corner kick at the 10:33 mark to start the scoring on Senior Day and helped anchor a defense that allowed just one shot attempt in the entire game.
Lake Forest also prevailed 5-2 at Ripon College on Sunday and Hernandez headed in another corner kick, this time giving the Foresters a 3-0 advantage less than 20 minutes into the contest. It turned out to be the official game-winner, his second of the weekend.
The victories kept Lake Forest tied for first place in the Midwest Conference standings.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
