Offense Erupts for 95 Points at Beloit
The Forester women's basketball team won 95-64 at Beloit College on Saturday. Six Lake Forest players scored in double figures, led by sophomore guard Gina Ambrose with a career-high 18 points in just 16 minutes of play.
Ambrose shot 6-for-11 from the field and 5-for-6 from the free throw line. She also pulled down five rebounds.
Forester junior forward Courtney Faulstick also established a new career-high with 14 points and fellow junior forward Liz Radtke added 13. Freshman guard Jenna Rice and freshman forward Rose Coll added a dozen points apiece and junior guard Alex Messacar finished with 10. Radtke led the visitors with nine rebounds and five assists.
The Foresters shot 50 percent from the field and also made half (8-of-16) of their attempts from three-point range. The team was 23-for-33 from the free throw line. Beloit shot 37.9 percent from the floor, 5-for-10 from beyond the arc, and 15-for-20 from the line. Lake Forest had a commanding 48-28 edge in rebounds.
Lake Forest scored the game's first five points and led by as many as 18 in the first half, which ended the the Foresters ahead 43-26.
Beloit pulled to within 13 points at 52-39 but the Foresters outscored the home team 17-2 in a five-minute span to put the game out of reach.
The Foresters evened their overall record on the season at 6-6 and raised their Midwest Conference mark to 5-3 at the mid-point of the league schedule. Beloit fell to 4-9 overall and 1-7 in the conference.
Lake Forest will attempt to avenge a pair of losses at home next weekend when they host St. Norbert College at 5:00 Friday evening and Ripon at 2:00 the next afternoon.
