Mike Mackin joins the Lake Forest College coaching staff in 2011-12 after competing on the team for the last four seasons.
Mackin was the Foresters' captain each of the last two seasons and voted the team's Most Valuable Performer his sophomore, junior, and senior years. He posted the fastest 100-backstroke time in program history and was a member of four school record relay teams. He is also ranked second in team history in the 100-butterfly and 200-backstroke. Among his 12 career individual event performances at the Midwest Conference Championships are four championships and four runner-up finishes. He also added league titles as mart of relay teams.
Mackin attended Fenwick High School in Oak Park, Illinois, and helped the team place third in the state his junior year.
The Berwin, Illinois, native served as a coach at Champ’s Swim Club in his hometown after graduating from the College in 2011 with a degree in economics. He also began a career at the Oxen Group, a financial advising company out of Chicago, Illinois.
