Diver Sam Gardner was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday for her performance in a double-dual sweep of Carroll University and host Lawrence University on Saturday.
Gardner, a junior, recorded a score of 275.80 points to win the 3-meter competition and make her eligible for the NCAA Division III Championships. She was also the runner-up with 227.78 points off the 1-meter board.
The score off the higher board was a career-high for Gardner by more than 30 points.
The minimum score needed to be considered for selection to the national meet in 3-meter diving is 265 points. A committee will review recordings of all eligible divers to select the participants in the championship meet.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
