July 17, 2012Three Individual Foresters and the Women's Team Earn Scholar All-America Honors
Juniors Becky Shaak, Matt Perry, and Sam Gardner were recognized by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America for their academic and athletic accomplishments in 2012. The Forester women's swimming & diving team also earned accolades for their performance in the classroom.

68 Foresters Named Academic All-Midwest Conference
The Midwest Conference announced its Academic All-MWC honorees for 2011-12 on Wednesday. Lake Forest College had 68 student-athletes in 13 sports listed.

Becky Shaak and Garr Punnett Named Team's Most Valuable Performers
The Lake Forest College Athletic Department held its annual Winter Sports Awards Ceremony on Sunday, March 25, at the First Presbyterian Church in Lake Forest. Among the many awards given out were plaques for each sport's Most Valuable and Most Improved Performers. Junior Becky Shaak and sophomore Garr Punnett were the Forester swimming & diving team's Most Valuable Performers while freshman Mitchell Reiner and sophomore Loren Dutca were named the team's Most Improved Performers.

Becky Shaak Places 15th in the Nation in the 400-IM, Competes in Two Other Events
Lake Forest College junior Becky Shaak placed 15th in the 400-IM at the 2012 NCAA Division III National Championship Meet on Thursday. She also finished 36th in the 200-IM on Wednesday and will compete in the 100-breaststroke on Friday.

Becky Shaak to Make Third Consecutive Trip to National Meet
The NCAA released the names of the swimmers who have qualified for this year's Division III Championships on Thursday and Lake Forest College's Becky Shaak was included on the list. The national championship meet participation status of four Forester divers will be announced early next week.

Lake Forest College swimmer Becky Shaak competed at the Midwest Invite at the University of Chicago on Saturday. Her time in the 400-IM is ranked 12th in the nation.

The College Swimming Coaches Association of America announced the teams that have earned Scholar All America status for the 2011 fall semester on Thursday and the Lake Forest College women made the list with a 3.26 GPA.

Forester Women Claim Conference Title, Men Finish Second at MWC Championships
The Lake Forest College women's swimming & diving team finished 54 points ahead of runner-up Grinnell College at the 2012 Midwest Conference Championships at Lawrence University over the weekend. The Forester men placed second behind Grinnell for the third straight season.

The Forester women's swimming & diving team leads Grinnell College by 77 points with one day to go at the Midwest Conference Championship Meet at Lawrence University. The Lake Forest men, led by sophomore Garr Punnett's second individual title in as many days, are comfortably in second place.

Forester Women Lead, Men in Second after First Day of MWC Championships
The Lake Forest College women's swimming & diving team is in first place with 299 points after day one of the three-day Midwest Conference Championship Meet at Lawrence University. Defending champion Grinnell College is in second place with 217 points. The Forester men trail first-place Grinnell by 87 points.

Lake Forest College diver Matt Perry was named Midwest Conference Swimming & Diving Performer of the Week on Tuesday after finishing first off both boards in a dual meet victory over Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday.

The Lake Forest College swimming & diving teams hosted and defeated Illinois Institute of Technology on Saturday in their final tuneup before the conference meet in two weeks. Forester seniors Jade Perkins and Amy Finn were honored before the final home meet of their careers.

Lake Forest Sweeps Double Dual with Carroll and Lawrence
The Forester men's and women's swimming & diving teams defeated Carroll University and host Lawrence University in a double-dual meet on Saturday. Lake Forest junior diver Samantha Gardner recorded an NCAA national meet qualifying score of 275.80 points in the 3-meter competition.

Foresters Compete at Illinois-Michigan Quadrangular
The Lake Forest College swim teams placed fourth at Wheaton College in the Illinois-Michigan quadrangular on Saturday. Sophomore Zach Wenner's first-place finish in the 200-freestyle was one of three Forester victories on the day.

Becky Shaak Earns Fifth Career MWC Performer of the Week Award
Lake Forest College swimmer Becky Shaak was named Midwest Conference Performer of the Week on Tuesday for her performance in the Foresters' double-dual victories over Willamette University and host Soka University of America on Saturday.

Foresters Swim Past Soka and Willamette
The Lake Forest College swim teams swept a double-dual at Soka University on Saturday. The Forester women defeated the hosts 68-26 and Willamette University 74-21 while the men posted 66-28 and 64-30 victories over the same two teams, respectively. Lake Forest won 12 of 22 events on the day, including all four relays.

Foresters Compete at Carthage Classic
The Lake Forest College swim team placed third on the women's side and fourth in the men's standings at the Carthage Classic over the weekend. Junior Alex Marks won the 200-breaststroke and five Foresters put their names on the program's all-time list of the top five performers in each event.

The Lake Forest College swimming & diving teams swam against high-level competition at the University of Chicago's Phoenix Fall Classic over the weekend. The Forester women placed fifth and the men sixth at the meet. Lake Forest junior Becky Shaak qualified for the finals in each of her three individual events.

Foresters Defeated by Carthage College
The Lake Forest College swimming & diving teams fell to visiting Carthage College on Saturday. The Lady Reds edged out the Foresters 111-93 and the Red Men won 120-75. Junior Becky Shaak won a pair of individual events for the home team.

Swimming & Diving Raises Awareness and Money for Cancer Research
For the second year in a row, the Lake Forest College swimming team will participate in the Ted Mullin "Hour of Power" to raise money and awareness for pediatric sarcoma cancer research. The "Hour of Power" Relay honors former Carleton College swimmer, Edward H. "Ted" Mullin, who lost his battle with synovial sarcoma in September of 2006. The event has grown from 15 teams in 2006 to 146 teams with over 7,000 athletes.

Lake Forest Opens 2011-12 with Victories over Monmouth
The Forester swimming & diving teams hosted and defeated Monmouth College on Saturday in the season opener for both programs. Sophomore Loren Dutca won three times to lead the Lake Forest women to a 132-60 victory. The Foresters men prevailed 118-50.
