Luke Swardenski, Men's Hockey
Men's hockey player Luke Swardenski was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after helping lead Lake Forest to a home-and-home series sweep of Concordia University Wisconsin last weekend.
Swardenski, a freshman forward, had a goal and an assist in Friday 6-2 triumph in Mequon, Wisconsin. His first point of the night came on an assist on the Foresters' second of four opening period goals. Later, after the Falcons had cut the lead to 4-2, Swardenski converted a power play opportunity to regain the visitors' three-goal advantage.
Lake Forest hosted and defeated Concordia Wisconsin Saturday night and Swardenski scored two of the team's goals and assisted on another. The assist came on the only goal of the first period and his first score extended the Forester lead to 3-0 late in the second. After the visitors got on the scoreboard early in the third period, Swardenski netted another power play goal, his second score of the night, third of the weekend, and fifth this season.
Lake Forest won three of this year's four games against Concordia Wisconsin and is now tied with the Falcons for third place in the Midwest Collegiate Hockey Association South Division standings. The top three teams in each division qualify for the league playoffs.
Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
