Al Mitchell, Football

Football player Al Mitchell was named Forester Athlete of the Week on Thursday after accounting for more than 200 yards and two touchdowns the previous Saturday.

Mitchell, a junior tailback, ran the ball 20 times for 73 yards and had 16 receptions for 121 yards in the 53-47 loss to Monmouth College. He scored his first career receiving touchdown and added a 19-yard fourth-quarter touchdown pass to his extremely diverse statistical line.

He fell just one reception shy of the program's single-game record set by Dan Cole in 1990. His 121 receiving yards and 194 yards from scrimmage were both career-highs.

Mitchell leads the Foresters with 473 yards rushing and ranked second on the team with 35 receptions in six games this season.

Forester Athletes of the Week are selected by the Athletic Department on Thursdays.
