Riding Team

The Lake Forest College Riding Team was newly formed in 2010. The Lake Forest College Riding Team is a competitive equestrian team in both the English and Western disciplines.  Within the English discipline, students compete in multiple levels of Hunt Seat Equitation on the flat and over fences.  In the Western discipline, students compete in various levels of Western Equitation and Reining.  The Lake Forest College Riding Team competes against multiple schools in the area through the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).  Practices include lessons once a week at Sunflower Farms.

Sunflower Farms, located in Bristol, Wisconsin, is home to the Lake Forest College Riding Team.  It has numerous indoor arenas and school horses trained in both English and Western for the college to use.  Phil May is the head trainer with plenty of experience in collegiate riding and showing.

The Club Sports program pays transportation costs and entry fees. Participants will pay for their lessons.

PARTICIPATION FEE: $50/semester plus lessons

At the beginning of each semester there is an opportunity for interested students to sign up for any club sport at what is called the Involvement Fair. If a student decides to come to Lake Forest he/she can attend the Fair in the fall and/or spring and sign up for a club sport then. The Fair takes place in or behind Commons, depending on weather, within the first two weeks of classes. First-year students do not need to do anything before arriving at Lake Forest in order to participate in club sports.
