Mike Gilboe has been the Foresters' Head Athletic Trainer since the fall of 2001 after a short stint with Condell Medical Center. Gilboe worked with their out-patient therapy services department and was part-time with Lake Forest College. He has become well-known among Forester athletes for his great passion for athletic training.

Growing up in Jacksonville, Arkansas, Gilboe attended Jacksonville High School where he began his future career helping as a student manager with the football and basketball teams. After high school he earned an undergraduate degree in Physical Education-Athletic Training/Exercise Science from Arkansas State University. Graduate School brought him to Illinois State University, where, as a graduate assistant, he covered football and track & field, and was also a graduate instructor in the physical education department. After graduation, Gilboe became the Assistant Athletic Trainer at his alma mater, Arkansas State University, where his primary area of responsibility was the men's basketball team. He also helped oversee 12 additional sports, along with supervision of undergraduate and graduate student athletic trainers and instructing in the Department of Health, Physical Education and Sport Sciences.

The Forester family - athletes, coaches, parents, and fans - knows Gilboe for his outstanding people skills and his pride in Lake Forest College Athletics. He can often be found putting in extra hours in the athletic training room to accommodate the student-athletes' busy schedules. He keeps no secrets about his favorite part of the job, “Game Day”.

Gilboe is an adjunct professor in the education department at Lake Forest College, teaching Introduction to Athletic Training, Concepts of Health Education, CPR, and First Aid.

He is also an American Red Cross instructor, is certified by the NATABOC, and is a licensed athletic trainer in the state of Illinois. He is a member of the National, Great Lakes, and Illinois Athletic Trainers Associations.

Mike and his wife Kim reside in Wadsworth with their sons Aiden and Blake.
